FastBraces FAQs

With a range of orthodontic treatments on the market, it can be hard to know which is right for you.

Dr. Pramod Thomas and our team have compiled a list of FastBraces® FAQs to help you understand this advanced treatment option.

At our Richardson, TX, office, we offer free consultations for patients interested in straightening their teeth with FastBraces to allow you to learn more about this procedure before you commit to treatment.

FastBraces is a faster, more affordable alternative to traditional braces.

We can determine if this treatment is right for you.

What is FastBraces?

FastBraces is a modernized approach to orthodontics that can straighten your smile in significantly less time than traditional braces.

How Do They Work?

FastBraces use a triangular bracket attached to a traditional metal wire.

This unique bracket moves the crowns and roots of the teeth simultaneously for quicker, more predictable treatment.

In contrast, traditional braces use a square bracket, requiring a two-phase treatment that takes longer.

How Long Does it Take?

Treatment with FastBraces usually takes between three months and a year.

However, some patients see results in just a few weeks. In contrast, traditional braces usually take two to three years to completely straighten teeth.

If you have more questions about FastBraces, Dr. Thomas and our team are happy to answer them.

Will I Need Teeth to Be Extracted?

This system is designed to be a non-extraction treatment plan.

Many patients undergoing traditional orthodontia must have their teeth removed to create enough space.

Then, the orthodontist uses braces to pull the surrounding teeth into the gaps created by extractions.

FastBraces works by moving the entire tooth, often avoiding the need for extractions.

Do FastBraces Hurt?

While you may experience some discomfort after your braces are tightened, FastBraces are typically less painful than traditional braces.

Will I Need to Wear a Retainer After Treatment?

Yes, you will need a retainer.

However, unlike traditional braces, you will only need to wear them for a small portion of the day.

Most patients need to wear their retainers for about 15 to 20 minutes each day, while others choose to wear them only while sleeping.

Can Anyone Get FastBraces?

Not every patient qualifies for FastBraces, but the majority do.

Most patients who can receive traditional braces also qualify for treatment with FastBraces. This treatment can address:

    • Gaps
    • Crooked teeth
    • Underbites
    • Overbites
    • Crossbites
    • Open bites

FastBraces are generally not recommended for impacted teeth, surgical cases, or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain.

Is it an Expensive Treatment?

In general, FastBraces cost about half as much as traditional braces.

The shorter treatment time also reduces the number of visits to our office, which can save you money as well.

What Are the Advantages of FastBraces Over Traditional Braces?

Compared to traditional braces, FastBraces are:

    • Faster
    • More affordable
    • Less painful

In addition, a shorter treatment means there is less time for plaque and bacteria to build up around brackets, which can reduce your risk of developing oral health issues.
