Job Description

Overview:

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is looking for a Safety Manager to lead the safety function at a manufacturing facility, working closely with leadership to develop and maintain a strong safety culture. This role will be responsible for implementing safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance. This is a long-term, direct hire role with our client located in Weldon, NC.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement site-specific safety procedures aligned with regulatory standards and operational needs
  • Stay informed of evolving safety laws and ensure facility policies and documentation are kept up to date
  • Promote collaboration with other locations to align safety strategies and foster shared learning
  • Mentor and support team members and supervisors in developing technical safety competencies
  • Define and communicate the site’s safety vision, ensuring alignment across departments
  • Lead training programs related to safety policies, risk awareness, and equipment usage
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions to eliminate hazards and prevent incidents
  • Share safety goals and metrics consistently across the facility
  • Partner with Human Resources and workers’ compensation teams to reduce costs and enhance safety outcomes
  • Conduct routine safety audits and inspect equipment and systems for compliance and risk mitigation
  • Manage the facility’s safety equipment, supplies, and training resources
  • Use data analysis to identify trends, set priorities, and recommend action plans
  • Support site performance objectives through active participation in plant initiatives
  • Lead or support investigations into safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures
  • Communicate with corporate offices and other locations to align safety efforts
  • May oversee a team of safety professionals
  • Act as a role model for organizational values and expectations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • 5+ years of safety leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Deep knowledge of federal and state occupational health and safety regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to all levels of the organization
  • Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and delivering training
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and digital safety tools
  • Ability to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and develop sustainable solutions
  • Experience fostering trust and collaboration across teams
  • Proven track record of supporting business goals through safety leadership
  • Ability to interpret data and convert insights into actionable strategies
  • Demonstrated ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality under pressure
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation preferred
