Applied Materials is the global leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. The Senior Manager for Trade Classification will build, manage, and enhance the trade classification program critical to import and export compliance. Responsibilities include managing classification of Applied’s product portfolio to ensure compliance with multijurisdictional requirements, managing a team of classifiers, engaging with stakeholders, and operationalizing program enhancements. The role focuses on compliance with U.S. Department of Commerce BIS, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Census Bureau regulations, with familiarity in other jurisdictions a plus. The position reports to a Director on the Global Trade team and involves collaboration with attorneys, business leaders, operations, and engineers. Core duties include managing classification compliance, training, managing compliance projects, ensuring consistent guidance, creating repeatable processes, drafting documentation, and providing updates to executives. Desired qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree (advanced preferred), 10+ years of trade compliance experience, proficiency with import/export classification (HTS, Schedule B, EAR categories), SAP GTS experience, and certifications such as Certified Export Specialist or Licensed Customs Broker. The role requires strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
