Job Description
Tow Truck Operator - Light Duty - NO CDL Required - This role is paid hourly + commission.
Base Pay - plus opportunity to earn 25% commission
Perform towing, accident recovery, and abandoned vehicle recovery using the assigned truck and towing equipment correctly as trained. Present to customers a professional self-image and Company image through excellent service, safe operation, and timeliness. Maintain truck and equipment in compliance with Company guidelines. Perform necessary documentation timely and correct manner according to procedures in effect.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (All other duties as assigned.)
- Arrive at work on time daily, ready for duty when the shift starts.
- Complete pre-shift and post-shift equipment checks daily and document these checks accurately.
- Excellent driving skills and valid driver’s license (copy required to be kept on file)
- Must keep their DOT, Department of Transportation, and medical certification updated on/or before its listed expiration date.
- Must operate a tow truck
- Must keep accurate records of time worked and commissions earned using company-provided materials
- Accurately calculate tow rates and understand tariffs to write complete and accurate paperwork.
- Must have a general understanding of vehicle mechanics, transmission types, front, and rear wheel drive vehicles
- Must have a sense of direction and understanding of maps and the ability to navigate in both day and night
- Must have a positive attitude, great work ethic, and be team-oriented
- Follows management direction and leadership well
- Must work independently, have initiative, and be dependable
- Calmly handles stressful situations.
- Able to write and speak English well, and be able to communicate effectively with others
- Work on call when needed, be conscientious about answering your phone when on call, and communicate with your team efficiently.
- Work in other areas, non-driving, when on shift/hourly time, at management's direction.
- Have no physical limitations against working in summer heat, winter cold, and rain
- Able to work at night and early morning, this job requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, crouching, twisting, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy (75+ pounds) or awkwardly shaped.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with Microsoft Office software and mobile applications.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid driver’s license required – Must be 25 years of age or older for insurability purposes.
- Clean driving record.
- Towing certifications – Preferred but not required.
